PROCEDURE FOR SCREENING/REGISTRATION: 2011/2012 ACADEMIC SESSION

You are welcome to Benue State University, Makurdi.

To enable you settle down quickly, you are requested to strictly adhere to the following steps in the checking of admission status, acceptance, screening, and registration process:

1.      Proceed to the designated Banks within Benue State and pay a non refundable admission checking fee of N400 and obtain a receipt with a pin. The designated Banks are: Fidelity Bank Plc, Mainstreet Bank Plc, Oceanic Bank Nig Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, Unity Bank, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, First Bank of Nigerian Plc and Zenith Bank Plc.

2.     To check admission, visit the BSU website on www.bsum.edu.ng and click on check admission status under the BSU portal section. Enter your JAMB Registration or Application number and submit. Print details if successful.
 
3.     Successful applicants are requested to proceed to the designated Banks listed above and pay a non refundable acceptance fee of N5, 500.00 using their JAMB registration or application number. Obtain a Bank print out with a pin number.

4.     Successful applicants who have accepted their admission are advised to click on admission letter / screening forms link on the University portal using their JAMB registration number to generate their admission letter / screening forms.

5.     Proceed to your Faculty, present your original academic certificates, admission checking / acceptance fee receipts, admission letter, and screening forms for screening.

6.     Proceed to the designated venue for the 2nd phase of screening which will hold as from Monday 13th – Friday, 24th February, 2012. Details are as follows:

                   Complex ‘A’: Faculties of Arts and Law
                   Venue:      Respective Faculty Board Rooms
                   Time:         10.00 a.m. – 2.30 p.m. Daily

                   Complex ‘B’. Faculties of Management Science and Social Sciences
                   Venue:      Respective Faculty Board Rooms
                   Time:         10.00 a.m. – 2.30 p.m. Daily

                   Complex ‘C’: Faculties of Science and Education.
                   Venue:      Respective Faculty Board Rooms
                   Time:         10.00 a.m. – 2.30 p.m. Daily

Only candidates who are successful at both phases of the screening will be required to pay their school fees and proceed with the registration/Programme.

7.     Successfully screened applicants MUST first be cleared by their respective Faculty Officers on the University portal before proceeding to pay school fees at Eco Bank, Makurdi.

8.     Proceed to Eco Bank and pay the approved fees using your UTME or DE registration number.
 
9.     Proceed to register online for the program of admission using your UTME or DE registration number as user id and password. Only applicants who have paid school fees will be able to         register for their courses online.
 
10.   You will submit printed Bio Data and Course Registration formsto the Dean of your Faculty, the Department, Academic Office, Student Affairs, GST (only Bio Data to Security and         Identity Card Unit).

11.    Proceed to the University Library for documentation.

12.    Proceed to the University Clinic for documentation.

13.    Proceed to the Security Unit for Documentation.

14.    Watch out for the orientation and matriculation programmes to be released by the Student Affairs Division in collaboration with the Academic Office.

You have now completed your registration and are ready for matriculation. All registered candidates will be matriculated and assigned a matriculation number at the New Convocation Square. You are to note that failure to dully complete the registration process will lead to non-matriculation and subsequent disqualification of your admission.

15.   Proceed to Identity Card Unit for Students ID Cards with a coloured passport photograph.

Registration by proxy is prohibited.

16.   Checklist of Requirements for Screening/Registration
(i)      Originals of academic qualifications (Statement of Results/On-line slips will not be accepted).
(ii)      Birth certificate/declaration of age,
(iii)     Married certificate/declaration, change of name(s) where applicable.
(iv)    Certificate of Origin
(v)     Original UTME result slip with embossed passport photograph
(vi)    Original DE on-line registration print-out with embossed passport photograph.
(vii)    Writing materials

17.    Registration Officers/Faculty Officers are to ensure that only candidates with original certificates are registered. For avoidance of doubt:

A.     WASC Candidates
i.        From inception to May/June 2010 must tender original certificates to be eligible for registration.

ii.       November candidates from inception to 2009 must tender certificates to be eligible for registration.

      NECO Candidates
i.        From inception to June/July 2005/2006 candidates must tender original certificates to be eligible for registration.

ii.       From inception to November/December 2005/2006 candidates must tender original certificates to be eligible for registration.

C.     Candidates who took their examinations in 2007 – dates in case of NECO and 2011 in the case of WASC May/June and November 2010 – date may be screened for registration. Such       candidates should note that they must tender original certificates before graduation.

D.     DE Candidates
     These candidates must tender original certificates of their Advanced level qualifications to be eligible for registration.

     Candidates are advised to note this information and comply strictly with the directives.

18.    Candidates should note that there is no change of course/programme.
