Introduction
The Centre for Research Management (CRM) Benue State University was established on March 2nd, 2010 with the approval by senate at its 201st meeting. It was, however, housed and midwife under the Academic Planning Unity of the University until December 1st 2010 when it existed on its own with the appointment of a Director.

To be a centre of excellence in the management of research matters, competing favorable with other research institutions within and outside Nigeria.

To stimulate and promote creativity for quality and sound innovations in research development in different fields of specialization.

The centre has the following functions:

1. To coordinate all research activities and training staff.
2. To organize workshops, seminars, conference or lectures aimed to train upcoming young academic in the following areas:
3. o    Research methodologies
4. o    Research instrument designing and development
5. o    Accessing and using digitized research  and materials
6. o    Proposal development and writing for academic purposes and  for grant and sponsorship
7. o    Research assessment and evaluation
8. o    Thesis development and writing
9. o    Academic journals development and writing for publication
10. o    E-publishing
11. To provide pedagogical skill utilizing the latest technology for effective delivery of educational instructional contents in the following areas:
12. o    Special methodologies in research and teaching in respect to academic subject and research designs
13. o    Internet education and how to use internet to access teaching and research materials from various e-journals and relevant databases.
14. o    Reading skills development
15. o    Study skills development and technology
16. o    Scientific and technical literacy skills development
17. o    Writing skills development

Objectives of the Centre
The aims and objectives of the centre include:

1. To oversee, coordinate, execute and promote all research activities in the University including liaising with relevant partners and sponsoring bodies within and outside Nigeria for training.

2. To provide such community-oriented services as workshops, seminars, conferences a or lectures aimed at training up-coming young academics in the following but not limited areas.

3. o Research mythologies.

4. o Research investment designing and development.

5. o Access and using digitized research and materials.

6. o Proposal development and writing for academic purposes and for grant sponsorship.

7. o Research assessment and evaluation.

8. o Thesis development and writing.

9. o Academic journals development and writing for publication.

11. To provide and sustain pedagogical skills and knowledge utilizing the latest technology for effective delivery of educational instructional contents in the following but not limited areas:

18. To attract funding from donor for research purposes.

19. To cooperate with other research institutions and agencies with similar mission and objectives for the purpose of promoting the Centre.

20. To prepare and publish monographs, journals and books reflecting the result of scholarly research analysis by the Centre.

21. To promote or undertake such other activities which in the opinion of the Centre are necessary or expedient for the purpose of achieving the objectives of the Centre.

The overall policy making organization of the centre is the board of Governors (Governing Board). This Board is known as the Research Management Board (RMB). The Board Membership is made up of The Vice- Chancellor as the Chairman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (academic), 2 Representatives of Senate, One Representative from each Faculty, Dean of Faculties, Postgraduate school, Directors of Research Management, Academic Planning, Development & Linkages, Centre for Continuing Education, Centre for Gender Studies, Physical Planning, The Registrar, The Bursar and The University Librarian as member
There is Research Development and Training Committee (RDTC) which is an advisory body to the Governing Board.

In Attendance are the Registrar, The Bursar, Physical Planning Officer and the Secretary.

The Director of the Centre is Prof. Mrs. Beatrice Onyi Ker. She is in charge of the day-to-day operation of the centre and accountable directly to the Board of Governors.

Profile of Prof. B. O Ker: Director

Mrs. Beatrice Ker is a Professor of Counseling Psychology in the Faculty of Education. Professor B.O. Ker has attained the following qualifications with dates: School Learning Certificate (1968), West African School Certificate (1973), B. Edu (History) Ibadan (1977), Research Methodology & Guidance and Counseling (Sterling University, Scotland, 1984), Ph.D (Counseling Psychology), ABU, Zaria, Nigeria (1994).

Prof. Ker has been in the University System and actively involved in Teaching, Research and Counseling services for over 20 years. She has been equally engaged in the administrative activities of the university in various ways as Dean of Faculty, Head of Department, Coordinator of Programmes as well as belonging to university committees.

She is a member of many professional bodies such as the Counseling Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Psychological Association, Association for Promoting Quality Education in Nigeria, Nigerian Association of University Women, Nigeria Association of Women in Academics among other. She is member, International Committee for the Award of Fellowships (for IFUW with Headquarters in Geneva).

Prof. B.O. Ker has traveled widely to many countries such as Scotland. Oxford, Manchester, United States of America, Australia, Ghana, South Africa, East Africa, Israel and Mexico among others.Prof B.O. Ker is married and blessed with Children.

Profile of Dr. S.G. Yiase; Deputy Director:

Born 23rd March 1955 in Mbagwa, Ushongo LGA of Benue State. Educated at the then R.C.M Ngavan in present Ushongo LGA, St. Andrews’s Secondary School Adikpo, Wesley High School Otukpo, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (ABU), the University of Sheffield, U.K and finally ABU Zaria.
Qualification: B.Sc. (Hons) Chemistry, (ABU), Master of Metallurgy. (Shffield), Phd Chemistry (Organometallic Chemistry) (ABU). Worked at Gyegwe Grammer School Koti-Yough (post-H.Sc), GSS Kumo (NYSC) in present Gombe State, Federal University of Technology Owerri (Imo State) and now Benue State University, Makurdi. Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry with interests in organmetallic, agricultural and inorganic chemistry. Married to Lucy Doose Yiase (Nee Avule of Shorov in Buruku LGA) with six children (two males, four females). Served on many committee and as Head of Department of Chemistry (2004- 2011). Presently Deputy Director Centre for Research Management.
