Benue State, between 2010 and 2023. Employing a qualitative research methodology,
data were collected through interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The
study is anchored in the Marxist Political Economy framework, which provides a lens
for analyzing the underlying factors driving insecurity in the region. The findings reveal
that insecurity in Katsina-Ala LGA is primarily driven by class struggle, economic
deprivation, state repression, and elite exploitation. The study further shows that
insecurity has significantly disrupted economic activities and led to the widespread
destruction of lives and property. Based on these findings, the paper recommends
economic redistribution and structural reforms as critical measures to break the cycle
of insecurity in Katsina-Ala.
