Quoted below is a copy of the letter written and addressed to the staff of Benue State University by the Code of Conduct Bureau.
"NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROVISION OF CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PUBLIC OFFICERS
Pursuant to Section 209 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) which states;
A person in the public service of a State shall observe and conform to the Code of Conduct.
The Bureau is writing to bring to your notice that some public officers with Benue State University were administered with Assets declaration forms CCB-1 on the 26th of November, 2015 for their observation and conformation to the above stipulation.
Records with the Bureau shows that one thousand, six hundred and thirty-seven (1,637) CCB-1 forms were administered to public officers of Benue State University and out of these, four hundred and ninety-four (494) returned their completed CCB-1 forms to the Bureau.
A total of one thousand, one hundred and forty-three (1,143) public officers of various departments refused to sign and collect, while those that signed and collected refused to return same to the Bureau’s office.
The Bureau is on the process of establishing allegations of non-compliance and breach of Code of Conduct for Public Officers as enshrined under Paragraph 11 (1) of Part 1 of the Fifth Schedule of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
